Punggol HDB Residence
A Modern Gothic Victorian Home.

For this HDB flat at Punggol, Singapore, the homeowners envisioned a residence that would feel timeless, elegant and unmistakable unique. Inspired by the Modern Gothic Victorian aesthetics with subtle French influences, the home embraces a striking monochromatic palette where crisp white hand-carved furniture contrast beautifully with rich black velvet upholstery.
Dainté Living was entrusted to custom furnish the home's key living spaces, creating a seamless journey from the entrance to the bedroom. Every piece was handcrafted using premium mahogany wood, ensuring exceptional durability while showcasing the beauty of traditional woodworking. Carefully selected upholstery, elegant carvings and coordinated finishes unite every room into one cohesive living environment.
A Grand Welcome
The entrance foyer is the first impression of a home, setting the tone for everything that follows.
For this feature area, we custom crafted:

- Floral Mirrored Console Table
- Palais Porter's Chair
The mirrored console table and statement wall mirror work together to reflect both natural and ambient light, creating a brighter and more spacious entrance while adding an immense sense of sophistication. The statement mirror was made by the customer's request to emboss Arabic words into it.
Standing proudly beside the console table is the Palais Porter's Chair, a timeless piece inspired classic European furniture. Its distinctive hooded silhouette creates an elegant focal point, welcoming guests with a regal presence from the moment they step inside.
Framed by refined wall mouldings and warm cove lighting, the entrance establishes the home's luxurious character before transitioning into main living spaces.
Modern Gothic Victorian Living Room
The living room was designed to be both dramatic and inviting—a space where timeless craftsmanship meets everyday comfort.
For the living room, we custom made:
- Victorian Sectional Sofa (L-Shaped)
- Victorian Side Table with Black Marble Top
Handcrafted from solid mahogany wood, the sectional sofa features a beautifully carved white frame with silver accents paired with luxurious Cashmere Crushed Velvet upholstery in a rich black tone. The contrast between the crisp white timber and deep velvet creates a bold yet sophisticated centrepiece that immediately captures attention.
Inspired by Victorian elegance yet refined for contemporary living, the sofa showcases a graceful flowing curves, hand-carved detailing and carefully proportioned silhouette that feels luxurious without overwhelming the space.
Beyond its elegant appearance, the sectional sofa was designed with practical everyday living in mind. The seat cushion feature removable seat and washable covers, making routine maintenance effortless while preserving the sofa's luxurious appearance for years to come. It is a thoughtful detail that reflect our belief that beautiful furniture should also be functional for modern families.
Complementing the sofa is a matching carved side table finished with a luxurious marble top. Echoing the same flowing lines and intricate detailing, it completes the seating arrangement while reinforcing the home's consistent design language.
Elegant Dining for Meaningful Gatherings
The dining area continues the home's distinctive design language, bringing together French-inspired craftsmanship with a refined monochromatic palette.
For this section of the home, we custom crafted:
- Victorian Baroque Round Dining Table
- 4 Modern Victorian Dining Chairs
Crafted from solid mahogany wood, the Victorian Baroque dining table features elegant carved detailing and a sculptural pedestal base that anchors the room with timeless character. Its circular form encourages conversation and creates an intimate setting for everyday meals as well as special family occasions.
Surrounding the table are four beautifully crafted Modern Victorian dining chairs upholstered in premium Italian Velvet. Their high upholstered backs and seats, hand-carved crests and graceful cabriole legs introduce a refined French influence while complementing the home's Modern Gothic Victorian aesthetic.
The black velvet upholstery creates visual continuity with the living room furniture, while the white carved timber frames echo the architectural wall mouldings throughout the home. This thoughtful balance of colour and craftsmanship allows the dining area to feel connection to the surrounding spaces while maintaining its own elegant identity.
A Restful Retreat
This bedroom was designed as a calming retreat where luxury is expressed through craftsmanship, comfort and timeless elegance.
For the bedroom, we custom designed:
- Victorian Baroque Bedframe
- 2 Classic Victorian Bedside Table
The bedframe continues the home's signature black-and-white palette with a gracefully carved white frame and a generously upholstered headboard finish in premium Italian Velvet.
The deep button-tufted headboard adds warmth, softness and visual depth while serving as the room's elegant focal point. Flowing curves, elegant carving and refined proportions (to meet the homeowner's mattress size) introduce French-inspired influences, creating a bedroom that feels luxurious yet peaceful.
Flanking the bed are two matching bedside tables, each featuring hand-carved detailing and elegant cabriole legs, that reinforces the cohesive design language established throughout the home.
Rather than relying on excessive decoration, the bedroom allows the furniture itself to become the centrepiece, creating an atmosphere of understated sophistication and restful comfort.
Designed as One Complete Home
One of the defining characteristics of this project is its consistency. Rather than selecting individual statement pieces for each room, every furniture collection was thoughtfully designed to complete the next.
From welcoming foyer entrance to the elegant living room, refined dining area and the tranquil bedroom, each space shares a common language of handcrafted mahogany wood, luxurious velvet upholstery, graceful European-inspired carvings and a sophisticated monochromatic palette.
This cohesive approach allows every room to feel connected while giving the home its own distinctive identity—an identity shaped by timeless craftsmanship, thoughtful design and everyday functionality.
