Riverbank@Fernvale Condominium
Modern Luxury with Chesterfield Elegance.
A Sophisticated Living Space Designed for Comfort and Hosting
For this home at Riverbank condominium, Dainté Living created a cohesive living and dining environment centred around modern luxury, classic Chesterfield detailing and refined glamour.
The homeowners wanted a space that could accommodate family living and entertaining without feeling overly crowded. To achieve this, we designed and custom-made a collection of upholstered furniture that combines rich Italian velvet, diamante tufting and carefully applied nailhead detailing.
The result is a sophisticated interior where every piece contributes to a consistent visual language while remaining practical for everyday living and entertaining.
Living Room | Chesterfield Elegance with Modern Luxury Feel
The living room is anchored by a custom-made 3-seater Chesterfield sofa, finished in deep black Italian velvet. Its generously tufted upholstery, rolled arms and classic proportions give the sofa its unmistakable Chesterfield character, while the dark velvet and sparkling diamante detailing introduce a more glamorous, contemporary interpretation.
The sofa is complemented by two custom upholstered benches, positioned on either side of the seating arrangement. Rather than adding another loveseat or chaise lounge, we chose benches specifically to work with the available space.
This was an important design consideration for the home. A larger upholstered piece could have made the room feel too enclosed, whereas the benches provide additional seating without visually overwhelming the space. They can also be moved when needed, allowing the homeowners to accommodate guests more flexibly.
The seating is completed with a custom-made coffee table, creating a central focal point and a practical surface for everyday use and entertaining.
Together, the arrangement provides generous seating while maintaining an open and balanced feel within the living room.
Italian Velvet, Diamanté Tufted & Nailhead Detailing
A defining feature throughout the living room is the combination of Italian velvet, diamanté tufting and nailhead detailing.
The rich black velvet gives the furniture depth and softness, while the diamante buttons introduce subtle points of light across the upholstery. Hand-applied nailhead-style detailing around the edges adds another layer of craftsmanship and reinforces the classic character of the pieces.
Rather than relying solely on ornate forms, these details allow the furniture to create a sense of luxury through texture, proportion and craftsmanship.
The combination works particularly well against the patterned feature wallpaper, creating a dramatic yet polished atmosphere.
Dining Area | Coordinated Luxury
The dining area continues the same design language established in the living area.
For this space, Dainté Living custom-made a set of upholstered dining chairs, designed to complement the surrounding furniture while giving the dining area its own presence.
The chairs are upholstered in Italian velvet and feature diamanté tufting across the backrest, echoing the detailing of the Chesterfield sofa and living room benches.
Nailhead-studded detailing follows the outer edges of the chairs, adding definition to their silhouette while creating a subtle connection with the nailhead detailing used throughout the living room.
The black upholstery also creates a strong visual relationship between the dining and living areas, allowing both spaces to feel like part of one thoughtfully considered interior.
Designing for Space without Compromising Luxury
One of the key considerations in this project was making the furniture work within the proportions of a condominium living space.
Luxury furniture can sometimes feel visually heavy when too many large pieces are placed together. Instead of simply filling the room, the furniture selection was considered around scale, movement and functionality.
The decision to use two benches rather than another large sofa or chaise is a good example. The benches provide useful additional seating for guests while maintaining more visual openness around the room.
This approach allows the home to retain its luxurious character without sacrificing practicality.
