For this HDB home in Sengkang, Singapore, the homeowners envisioned a living space that felt elegant, welcoming and effortlessly sophisticated. The design embraces a Modern Contemporary Luxury aesthetic, where bold accent colours, refined silhouette and premium finishes create an interior that is both stylish and comfortable for everyday living.
We, Dainté Living was approached and entrusted to custom furnish the living room, designing a coordinated collection that balances statement pieces with understated elegance.
A Living Room Designed for Comfort and Style

Bold Colour, Timeless Elegance
At the focus of the living room are the custom three-seater and two-seater sofas, upholstered in premium Italian velvet in a striking royal blue. Rich in colour and soft to the touch, the velvet introduces depth and sophisticated while creating an immediate focal point within the space.
The sofa features clean contemporary silhouettes, complemented by deep button-tufting at the backrest, along the inner arms and individually hand-applied nailhead trim that beautifully traces their graceful profile. This handcrafted detailing adds a subtle touch of timeless craftsmanship creating a refined balance between classic elegance and modern design.
Against the home's interior neutral colour palette, the vibrant blue upholstery establishes a bold yet harmonious contrast that feels luxurious without overpowering the room. Rather than relying on excessive ornamentation, the furniture celebrates thoughtful proportions, premium materials and meticulous craftsmanship.
Thoughtful Contrast Through Layering
Complementing the royal blue sofas is a beautifully custom accent high-back armchair upholstered in premium Italian velvet is a soft taupe tone. Instead of matching the sofas exactly, the contrasting colour was intentionally selected to introduce visual balance and depth to the seating arrangement
Its elegant wingback silhouette is enhanced with vertical channel stitching and the individually hand-applied nailhead trims highlights the chair's refined contour while showcasing the attention to detail behind its craftsmanship. The soft neutral upholstery provides a gentle contrast against the bold blue seating, creating a layered composition that feels curated, sophisticated and inviting.
This thoughtful pairing demonstrates how contrasting colours can work together harmoniously, allowing each piece to complement the other while elevating the overall ambience of the living room.
A Contemporary Centrepiece
Anchoring the seating arrangement is a contemporary coffee table featuring a cultured marble top paired with a sleek champagne gold metal frame.
The clean architectural profile introduces a refined modern element while the marble surface adds timeless sophistication. The gold accents beautifully complement the lighting fixtures and decorative details throughout the space, creating visual continuity that ties the room together.
Its minimalist design allows the surrounding furniture to remain the focal point while providing a practical surface for everyday living and entertaining.
